Boyd Russel was the only child of a Pureblood Scottish wizard and a Pureblood American witch. Moved back to Scotland after graduating from the American wizarding school he attended. Met and married Moira Ramsey, a Muggle. They had a brood of five which they were happy with. They lived well enough and were a regular family until the Death Eaters paid them a visit. Digusted that Boyd would lower himself to not only breed with, but marry a Muggle, killed the entire family. Jarod was only spared because he was the eldest child and had been at school at the time having received his Hogwarts letter just that year.
The Annihilatus having heard what happened tried to recruit Jarod, but he refused not seeing the difference between the two factions. Feeling strongly about the war being fought, it has motivated Jarod to seek out and join the Lux Veritatis.
A Gryffindor through and through, Jarod also has skills and attributes from the other Houses, but those of Gryffindor are strongest in him. He can't abide by those that use and corrupt the power they are given and don't help those below them. Won't hesitate to throw himself in danger for those he cares about or for something he believes in.
Even knowing that the ends don't justify the means, Jarod knows sometimes there is no other way. Sometimes you have to stoop to your enemy's level and use their tactics. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind and sacrifice the one to save many.
