Amber opened the door to the class room and stepped inside. Flicking her wand the lights turned on. making her way to the bored Amber began to write:

Quote :
The Study of the Universe.

Amber sat down at her desk and propped her feet on the top, waiting for the students to arrive.

Astronomy was a thing that always interested Peyton. She enjoyed staring into space at the wonderous constellations wondering how they got there and how they were shaped like they actually looked like something. Walking through up to the Astronomy Tower, Pey sat on a chair and stared at the sky wondering what it would be like to be in space.

Jordan controlled her breath as she stepped up the flight of stairs, she would have to remember to go running soon; she was out of shape a bit. Or maybe it was the heels.

She finally made it to the classroom and sat down near the front. She sighed, ready to start the lesson.

This subject was going to be very interesting, Lucian just knew it already. He liked sitting out underneath the dark sky and looking up at the stars above. It was something he had done since he was really small and helped him feel not so alone. There were also incredible stories and myths behind the shapes of the stars and constellations as well. Making his way up the stairs to the tower, he wondered if any of that would be included in the information they would be given. Granted, it was more than that and he knew that and that was why he was looking forward to this.

Entering the classroom he saw how casually his teacher was sitting and smiled. This was going to be fun. Choosing a desk he sat down and pulled out his Astronomy book and waited.

Oliver went quickly up the stairs, he really was rather unsure why he took his class, but he was going to make the most of it, after all, it could be a fun class. He walked in, taking a seat next to the only other guy in the room so far. He got his Ink, Quill and Parchment out, along with the book for the subject, before idly twiddling his thumbs.

Amber watched as four students entered the room. "Well." She began removing her feet from her desk and walking around it to look at them all. "It seems it's just you four today, Anyone who comes in after this is late." She said leaning against her desk.

"Welcome to Astronomy." Amber began the lesson. "Because there isn't tons of students in this class it will be an all grades class." She said looking around the room. "Today's lesson is easy. I just want to know your knowledge of Astronomy." She said flicking her wand so the first question appeared on the board. "What is Astronomy?" She read. "This question is all based on what you think this class is about." She said studying each face. "Please state your name and house before answering a question."

Jordan flicked her hand upward, " Jordan Knight, Slytherin. Astronomy is the study of the stars. For this class, the study of stars, plants and other matters in space and how the relate to magic here on Earth. For example my mother always says Love potions and spells are stronger when Venus is in the sky, for Venus is the plant of love."

Jordan tossed her hair so it lay behind her sholder and looked back up at the Professor, ready to see if she was right or wrong. However she was most definatly not wrong.

Lucian rolled his eyes at the student’s answer. Raising his own hand he stated, “Lucian Maddox, Ravenclaw. Astronomy is the study of how the stars and planets effect earth as well. Like how the gravity of the moon effects the oceans. Just because it’s called Astronomy doesn’t mean it’s all based in outer space.”

Amber raised an eyebrow at the Slytherin girl. "Well..." She began after a moment. "Although your answer is right, Ms. Knight, Your missing vital points that Mr. Maddox has stated." She said nodding towards the boy. "Now..." She said flicking her wand again. "Who can name me a few planets?"

Oliver raised his hand at the question, he realised this subject might not be quiet as difficult as he initially thought. "Oliver White, Ravenclaw. Miss, some planets would be Mars, or Jupiter, which were named for the Roman Gods, Mars being the god of War, and Jupiter being the King of the Gods." He stated, he was hoping he didn't make too much of a mistake with that.

Lucian hadn't talked to Oliver before, but he was determined to rectify that. The older boy seemed like he liked to read or was at least interesting if he knew about the planets' Roman names. Deciding to add to that he raised his hand again. "Pluto was once thought of as a planet but was reclassified as a dwarf planet. It was associated with the ruler of the Underworld or Hades as the Greek call it."

Peyton raised her hand and decided to give answering a question a try. She loved Mythology and was very good at remembering the names of them all. Not wanting to take away an answer from someone else, she settled on only naming one planet. "There was Venus which was named after The Roman Goddess of Love." Venus was the Goddess that stuck in her head the most out of them all and a red tint lit up her cheeks at the fact. The fact that out of them all, she had to go and choose the bloody Goddess of Love. As if there was such a thing!

Jordan rolled her eyes at the Ravenclaw, of course he would bring in a muggle definition. But whatever, she was here to learn about Astronomy, she was allowed to be wrong.

Shen then ticked off the planets in her head, mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupitar, saturn, neptune, uranus, pluto... four had been said.

" Well There's also Mercury, named after the roman god whose the equivilant of the greek god Hermes, messanger of the gods. Then there is Saturn, named after the roman god of agriculture and harvest." She paused, there were only two left, might as well name them.

" And then Uranus, named after the grandfather of Jupiter and finally Neptune, named after the god of the sea."

Grinning at Professor Jackson, Arthur began, "you know me. Arthur Willet, knight of Hufflepuff. The planets everyone has mentioned already are all from the Solar System. However, there are so many more planets. Funny everyone only ever thinks of the ones in this Solar System first."

Amber smiled at all the answers. "You're getting ahead of me with the mythology." She said sitting down on her desk. "Mythology is a big part of Astronomy. And Speaking Of Mythology that's part of your homework." She said winking. "Anyways... Next question. Who can name me some constellations?"

"The one I know off the top of my head is Cassiopeia. Soaked in mythology, and five major stars. Cassopeia's the best babe going," he said, grinning, before leaning back and having a look around to see if anyone else had any constellations to contribute to the class to.

Lucian couldn't help his small slip of laughter at the Hufflepuff. He was interesting, funny, and intelligent. The teen hadn't thought of that though. About how everyone named the planets in this system first. It was natural he supposed since the planets were in their home system, for them to think of those first. Now they had moved on to constellations. Lifting his hand he stated, "Gemini, the twins. In Greek Mythology as Castor who was mortal lay dying, his twin Pollux asked his father Zeus to give Castor immortality. So Zeus did by making them stars."

Jordan listened to the other two's answers, " My favorites always been the Canis Major, because it has the dog star, Sirius the brightest star in the sky. But there's also the heros Hercules and Orion.
