Logan's Office Empty
PostSubject: Logan's Office   Logan's Office EmptySun Dec 19, 2010 4:26 pm

Walking into the room, Logan noticed the new desk that she had bought the week before. It was a dark wood with little ornate designs on the side. The top was filled with papers about rising dark wizards and all of the criminals that were worthy of gracing the Head Auror's desk. There were two chairs in front of it that were the same color with the same designs with little orange cushions to make them more comfortable. Behind the desk sat an Orange desk chair on wheels. In the right corner of the room were two big filing cabinets. In the left stood a tall darker brown wood bookshelf filled to the brim with books. All of the furniture had been bought only the week before as Logan had only started the job then. Going over to her bright chair, something which others may have felt was odd, she sat down and shuffled the papers on the desk.

Hearing a knock on the door, she made a flick of the wrist with her wand in hand and it opened. "Come on in." she cheerily greeted whoever it was with a smile.

Ryan realized that the MoM was completely no where near his office back in the school, but he was making a point of meeting everyone, and so he was making his next stop here at this building.

He made his way over to the first door, his knuckles raising to knock. Hearing a cheery voice telling him to come in though, he let his fingers grasp the door handle, and he allowed himself inside. He closed the door behind him before he turned to the stranger with a friendly smile.

"Hello, I'm Ryan Porter. Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts." He paused, taking a couple of steps closer to make the conversation less awkward. "I'm just making a few stops, making a point of meeting everyone." He kept the smile in place as he continued to speak.

Smiling at the entrant, Logan was curious as to who he was. She never met him before, but she hadn't met most people she had met since joining the Auror office.

"It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Porter." she greeted the man and held out her hand to shake his. "I'm Logan McCay, the new head of the Auror Office. How long have you been working at Hogwarts? I went there myself only a few years ago, but it seems like ages now that I think about it." she conceded with a chuckle.

"It's very nice meeting you. I'm new here and I need to meet many people as well. New Connections and all that." she laughed merrily. "It's hard starting here after being away from London for so long."

Ryan was pleasantly surprised to see that the woman seemed just as friendly as himself, which always made him happy. Anyone who was able to hold a decent conversation, and he could see himself becoming friends with them. If it were one thing he disliked the most, it was awkward conversation as well as people who appeared to lack the socialization skill. Thankfully, this woman didn't seem to be one of those people. He could be wrong though.

"It's very nice to meet you as well, Ms. McCay." He replied warmly, the smile situating easily on his handsome face as he listened to her. "This is actually my first year working at this particular school, but I do have some experience under my belt." He replied to her with a nod. It hadn't been all too long ago that he'd attended the school himself, but long enough he supposed, being twenty six. "I understand what you mean. I'm only twenty six, but still, it does seem like a while ago." He chuckled, running a hand through his slightly messy hair.

"Well, everyone here are pretty friendly, so I'm sure you'll have no problem making those new connections." He said with a grin. He enjoyed talking to her already, she just had a very cheerful air about her. "I get what you mean." He paused, wondering how else he could continue the conversation. "Where are you coming from?"

So that was why she didn't recognize him! Being six years out of Hogwarts herself, she never had him as the Deputy Headmaster. He did seem a bit familiar though, which was only confirmed as he stated his age. He was in the year ahead of her at Hogwarts! Assuming he went there of course. She never really talked to any upper classmen, or any lower classman to be frank.

"Oh, That's interesting. You must have been a Seventh Year while I was a Sixth considering I am twenty-five, just a year below yourself." Thinking back to the good old days, Logan felt nostalgia creep upon her and pushed it aside. "Have you ever missed it? I mean, you must not miss it as much as I do since you work there, but do you miss being young and going to all the classes? I admit, I do at times, but the past is the past! Can't change it! Can't go back! End of story." she ended with a cheery smile.

"Oh, I bet I won't have any trouble at all! If everyone is as friendly as you then I probably will have met most of them by tomorrow." Chuckling, Logan looked out the window to the artifical scenary. "I lived in France for three years and Russia for five. It was a great experience. I absolutely loved France, such a beautiful place. And beautiful people too." she said wistfully missing it. "But I'm back now! Have you ever traveled abroad or anywhere interesting?"

Ryan continued to gaze at the woman in front of him, something about her face was drawing him in. He almost had a feeling that he knew her, but he couldn't quite place it. Even her name hadn't quite rung a bell, even though he couldn't stop gazing at her, trying to figure out how exactly it was he knew her. After another moment though, it hit him, especially when she said how old she was. That .. and she was explaining how he must have been a Seventh year while she'd been a Sixth. "That's why you looked so familiar." He mused, his head shaking a bit. "Sorry for staring, I was just trying to figure it out." He grinned at her sheepishly.

He moved forward, closing the distance between them before taking a seat opposite of her, listening to her talking. He was actually very interested, she was a talkative one for having just met her. "Actually, I do miss it, quite a bit actually." He admitted. "I mean, working there, I don't miss it quite as much, but I remember back when I was a teenager." He smiled a bit fondly. "Those were the days." He said with a small sigh, but he shook his head, clearing his thoughts. "You've got that right." He agreed to her last statement.

He smirked, placing his hands limply in his lap as he continued to listen to her. "I will admit, I am friendly. Although I don't find it such a bad thing .." A frown came across his handsome face for a moment, but soon he was smiling again as Logan described where she'd been before this. "That's extremely interesting." He said sincerely, his eyes trained on her face with curiosity. "I can't say that I have .." He shook his head sadly. "But I do want to begin traveling, soon. I need someone to do it with, though. It's not much fun alone." He chuckled, sitting back in his chair as he spoke.

If Logan felt uncomfortable by Ryan staring at her, she didn't show it. Being a Teacher for a while taught her to ignore when people stared at you or when they tried making faces at you. The later had been a definite factor at Durmstrang, stupid immature boys. After a little while of the staring, it got to a point where she felt a tiny smidge uncomfortable, but she pushed the thought to the side. "It's all right, Ryan. I thought that there was something on my face for a moment!" she chuckled and brushed her hair back with her hand. It was getting a bit long and such a hastle, so she decided to ask Ryan's opinion on the matter. "Sorry to be off topic, but what would you think about me cutting my hair?"

"What's it like working there? I used to work at both Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, but they are definitely different than working at Hogwarts, I bet." Now that she thought about it, working at Hogwarts would have been a better option than both of the schools, but she wanted to try out new things and new places and they seemed like the best options. "Has the place changed? I went to Madame Puddifoots for a laugh and surprisingly the old witch that worked there isn't there anymore! I missed the old bat, but the new woman there seems nice enough. Have you met her?"

She grinned and shrugged at Ryan's comment. "Being friendly is definitely not a bad thing!" she chuckled and noticed something come over Ryan, but as quickly as it came it disappeared. She decided not to question it and listened to Ryan intently. "You should go traveling as soon as possible. It's the best decision I think that I've ever made. It's so freeing and I love it. If you ever need someone to go with you, I'd always volunteer! New places are the best! Even old places, I don't mind! As long as I'm traveling." That brought her into another question. "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?"

Ryan hadn't meant for Logan to feel uncomfortable underneath his stare, but seeing that she might have, he was tempted to apologize even more. Yes, he considered himself a bit of a flirt, but he was still a gentlemen when it came down to everything. He was never one that became easily embarrassed either, but he didn't want to come off the wrong way and give Logan the wrong impression. He supposed one mistake was fine though, and so he tried his best to let the bothersome thought drift from his brain, focusing back on the pretty face in front of him.

He shook his head back and forth when she said she thought there'd been something on her face. "Not at all. Sorry again, Logan." He apologized, the sheepish smile back on his lips. He watched as she brushed the hair out of her face, and his brow arched a bit at her random question. But he took a moment to actually gaze at her, and after a moment, his broad shoulders rose and fell in a shrug. "I prefer long hair on woman, and I think you look beautiful the way you are. But whatever you like." He said simply, not minding at all complimenting her.

"It's great working there. It's laid back, and while everyone's professional, it's a friendly environment as well." He nodded as he spoke, to confirm his words. He considered where she'd worked, before deciding to ask the same question. "How was it working at those places?" He knew it was probably loads different from Hogwarts. "The place hasn't really changed, but the people have." He said agreeably. He couldn't help but smirk a bit at her mention of Madame Puddifoots. "Yes, I've met her." He said, remembering their few encounters. "She's an interesting one."

He smiled a bit, nodding once again, agreeing with her. "This is true. Never hurts to be friendly." He mused. His small smile developed into a wide grin when she began talking about how traveling was one of the best decisions. "Would you? Sounds good. I'll keep that in mind!" He said this almost excitedly. He became thoughtful when it came to her next question. "Hm .. you know. I'm not really sure. I want to go to a few places in Europe for sure though." He said with a nod. "France, Italy.. then there's London." He realized she'd been to some of those places though, so he chuckled. "If you wouldn't mind re-visiting places with me." He smirked.
