Just Getting a Drink

Kallen entered the Three Broomsticks before ordering a Gillywater, which she brought to her table. There wasn't much to do at the Ministry, given that she had been making a lot of arrests based on the list that was posted in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, so she decided to spend her break in Hogsmeade, which provided a change of scenario to say the least.

Anthony strolled into the Three Broomsticks, taking a quick glance around before he walked up to the bar. After a moment he decided to order the unoriginal butterbeer, and with thanks to the bartender, he turned around again.

He never minded being by himself, but seeing the unfamiliar face of a woman he'd never seen before.. curiously he headed over toward her, taking a sip of his drink on the way. Stopping near an empty seat at her table, his head tilted to the side as he gazed at her, a friendly smile resting on his lips. "Mind if I join you?"

The interior of the tavern was somewhat packed with patrons and Kallen was lost in thought for a moment as she watched the people present in boredom before moving her glass. Amid sipping her drink in silence, she heard someone speak to her before looking up to see an unfamiliar man at the edge of the table.

"Go on ahead." she replied with a smile, gesturing to the empty chair.

Anthony made sure he kept a pleasant smile on his face as she looked up, letting her know that he was friendly, and wasn't there for anything but that purpose. Seeing her smile back and gesture to the empty chair, his smile seemed to brighten. "Thanks." He mused, pulling out the object before sliding down onto it.

Adjusting himself so that he was comfortable, he took another sip of his drink before he placed it on the table in front of him, situating his gaze back on her unfamiliar face. "I'm Anthony Mancini."

Kallen took note of the man, watching him take a seat. In her mind, she was curious on what drew him here to where she was. Perhaps that would be revealed in time.

Taking a sip from her drink, Kallen heard the man introduce himself as Anthony Mancini before she replied. "Nice to meet you. I'm Kallen Nishiki."

Anthony remained comfortable underneath her gaze, used to being watched. Not that he was bragging or trying to sound overly-confident, he was just thinking the truth. He just kept his eyes on her face quietly, the friendly smile remaining on his lips.

Hearing her unfamiliar name, he was unsure if he should attempt to repeat it or not. Normally he didn't have a problem with it, but his Italian accent sometimes made it harder for him. He knew some people got offended if you couldn't say their name correctly, so instead he gave her a slightly larger smile. "Nice to meet you as well." He said pleasantly.

"Where do you work, if you don't mind me asking?" Had to start the conversation somewhere.

"I'm working as a Hit Witch at the Ministry." Kallen replied gently, her tone barely concealing her Japanese accent. She decided to keep things simple in hopes that in-detail explanations wouldn't be needed unless necessary. After all, it wouldn't be a smooth conversation through an overload of information off the start now.

"How about you?" she then asked.

Taking a sip of his drink as she spoke, he nodded to acknowledge her answer. She seemed to be not much of a talker, and while he didn't really mind, he knew that probably meant he'd have to be thinking of a lot more things to say if he wanted to keep a conversation going. Short explanations and simple back and forth answers never hurt though.

"I work in the Auror department at the Ministry." He replied with a slight nod following his words. "You enjoy your job?" So he was never one for idle chatter, but it seemed to be working for now.

Kallen smiled as she answered. "Even though there are some risks to being a Hit Witch, I've learned to take them in stride. So far, there have only been normal arrests that I've made and nothing too serious for the Aurors to get involved. Mostly it's just some upstarts that run their jaws but can't back their words. Sometimes, however, I had to seriously contend with the more... sophisticated criminals but I've managed to come out on top."

She then asked. "How about you? Any interesting cases lately?"

Anthony saw her smile, and figuring he had asked the right thing, he got comfortable in his seat and ready to listen. He didn't mind listening, especially if the conversation was interesting, which so far, he could honestly say it was. Taking a few sips of his drink as he listened to Kallen speaking, he nodded every so often to assure her that he was still listening.

"You're certainly an indepent one." He said this with a smirk, but it was clearly a compliment. "It's great that you like it though. Especially always coming out on top. That never hurts." His smirk grew into a grin.

He pondered her question for a moment before he gave a small shake of his head, back and forth. "A few requests for help and such, but in all honesty, no. Nothing interesting yet."

Kallen nodded at Anthony's response to her question. If that was the case, then perhaps it was simply the calm before the storm or perhaps the Aurors were certainly doing real well on the field. She hoped it was the latter but one never knew on what awaits.

"It's good when there aren't many things to worry about. Yet, it's probably only just a calm before the storm so I doubt anyone can afford to be complacent." Kallen remarked.
