What I've Done

Fallon walked through the halls slowly a look on her face that was unreadable. Things had changed in the last month and her parents had no idea what to make of her. She barely spoke, her manner of dress became a bit darker and she always had headphones rested on her ears. That day was no different, music by Linkin Park blaring in her ears as she headed for the common area on the fifth floor. Sinking down into the chair she smoothed out her skirt and dropped her ipod on the chair beside her.

As much as she had been looking forward to getting her last year over with she knew that it would drag on as slowly as possible. Things had changed and not for the better. After being bitten that night in the park the tests they had run on her at St. Mungo's had confirmed she had been bitten by a werewolf.

Fallon was almost positive it had been the same thing to stalk her at school and she swore if it ever crossed her path again she would kill it no questions asked. She didn't even really want to live herself. But she shoved the nasty potions down her mouth and dealt with the situation the best that she could. Skipping a song she settled back in the chair and closed her eyes.

After Jay got out from Mungo's he still didn't know exactly what he had. The only thing he knew was that he was feeling better, not much, but at least he wasn't feverish anymore, which made a difference, at least he was not calling people to odd names. Poor Gwen, she had suffered the hardest part of it. But well, now he was back at Hogwarts and hopefully would feel better every day that passed.

After a walk he headed his steps towards the students commons, looking for some peace there. When he entered he saw there a known face. It had been a while since he had seen Fallon for the last time, even he still doubted if he could look at her face after the dream he had or whatever it had been. She seemed to be out the world with her eyes closed and listening to her music so he didn't want to bother her.

Looking at her he took a sit on a nearby couch and took a book. Jay could notice that the girl had something different, but he couldn't say what it was. After a mental shrug he opened his book and started to read.

Even as Fallon sat there with her eyes closed and her music blaring she heard Jay approach just about the same time as she caught his scent. It hit her like a ton of bricks and she couldn't remember ever noticing him so quickly. Then she remember why she had picked him up so easily.

Stupid werewolf genes. Fallon hadn't told anyone what had happened and even though Jay had helped her get to St. Mungo's she hadn't talked to him since. Locking herself up in her room she refused to talk about what had happened. Her temper got the best of her one night though and ever since her parents had left her to do as she wished.

Hearing him sit down across from her she opened her eyes and studied him for a moment without saying anything. After all how did you tell your ex-boyfriend you were now a werewolf.. Yeah that was going to go over real well.,

Jay almost got lost in his book at the few first words, but suddenly he felt observed. Automatically he lifted his gaze to meet Fallon's, who was watching at him. Her eyes also looked different, he didn't know how to explain in what way she was different, she just was. Once again, as the day he found her at the park he needed to brush away the memories of having her between his arms and finally a small smile appeared in his face.

"See something you like?" he asked softly and closed his book "How have you been?" he added really worried about her as she had decided to dissapear, she hadn't even answered his owls and he really missed her.

She sat like a statue, barely moving and blinking rarely as she watched him. There was something now that drew her closer to him and she refused to let the darkness inside of her win. Yes, there was most definitely a darkness inside of her these days, threatening to escape at any moment. When his gaze finally left his book and met her she smiled back, a dark gaze if there ever was one.

"Actually I do and was just wondering what the best way was to go about getting it." Chuckling she reached up and ran a hand through her long locks. "I've been fine, how are you?"

Jay couldn't help the soft blush that took his cheeks at her words but a playfull smirk appeared on his face as he patted the couch next to him, motioning her to take a seat with him.
"Maybe sitting closer gives you some ideas" he said with a soft wink and sighed at her question "I've been better, actually" he said honestly and suddenly his nose caught an odd smell. Under Fallon's irresistable and tempting perfume there was something odd...it slightly smelt like...wet dog? Huh he had caught that smell under Ian's perfume also, but it couldn't be the same, it maybe was just his imagination.

Fallon continued to watch him even as he blushed and she had to admit that it made him even more handsome. Cursing herself internally she had to remember that she couldn't go around thinking like that. She still loved her boyfriend with all of her heart but there was still something there that drew her to Jay. It was why she had avoided him since the park, afraid of something happening and her not having the control to stop herself.

"Maybe it will." Pushing up out of her chair she moved to take a sit beside him, smoothing her skirt back down to its proper place mid thigh. "I'm sorry to hear that, whats been going on?" Maybe if she could keep the focus off of herself and onto him he wouldn't ask any questions that she wouldn't have answers for.

He's smile grew bigger as she settled down beside him. Oh god, now he was more able to feel her perfume and there were two possibilities, or she had decided to use half the bottle that day or his senses had became a bit more sensitive after the load of things the healers had done to him. But he couldn't deny it tempted him like normally, maybe even more if that was still possible. Again those memories...Jay had convinced himself it had only been a dream, but it had been so real. And he was starting to understand what his grandma had told him during the summer break. 'The first love lasts forever, boy...' he remembered exactly her words and it seemed to be true because even he tried badly to leave his feelings for Fallon aside, every time he met her they came out like an explosion to fill his heart again.

At her question another sigh scaped his lips "Actually, I don't know, I just know I've been sick like never before, raving, at the hospital, and finally here, seems that I feel better though" he told her with a soft shrug "Why have you been avoiding me?" he asked. The question had popped out his mouth unexpectedly, but now it was done he wouldn't take it back, he really wanted an answer.

Settling back comfortably against the couch she reached up and brushed her hair away from her face, trying to resist the urge to jump him on the couch. As soon as she felt like that she knew that she should have returned to the Hufflepuff dorms but something kept her locked in place. After all they had a year of school left together so she was just going to have to get used to being around him again.

"Thats horrible Jay, if I would have known I would have sent you some get well candy." Its true, while she wouldn't have visited him she would have least sent him something by owl. Hearing his question she looked away hoping that it was going to come later rather than sooner. After a moment she glanced back towards him. "I haven't been avoiding you. Just been busy is all getting ready for school and things of that nature." More like spending two weeks in St. Mungo before confining herself to her house and refusing to leave.

Jay smiled at her words trying hardly to ignore the effect her aroma was causing on him. But when she spoke again his face turned into a poker face, slightly glaring at her.
"You have never been a good liar" he simply stated and let his eyes wander all over her body, maybe stopping too much at the hem of her skirt. 'Jay, please, control yourself, control your hormones' his mind was asking me, but he was kind of not listening at all, eventhough he finally glancec back up at her eyes again, just waiting for an answer to his words.

She noticed his glare and smiled all the same, it crossed her mind that he would know she was lying but she didn't care. Fallon had no intention of ever telling him what she was now. "So theatrics have never been my strong point but that was the truth. I had to be fitted for new robes and purchase all of my books. Plus my parents returned from vacation and so on and so forth." The gaze of her body brought about a flush and she hoped that it wasn't too noticeable and again her mind screamed at her to leave.

"What have you been doing..other than being sick that is?"

Jay slightly rolled his eyes. It was obvious he didn't believe her, but if she didn't want to tell him he was not going to insist, he had well learnt that when something happened to someone, that person would say it out loud when he was prepared, not when someone asked. At her question he smiled a bit leaning agains the couch and stretchening a bit.

"Well I've been on a trip and on a few parties, but mostly taking care of my puppy. Did I tell you I bought one?" he asked not remembering that detail. A soft cough attack caught him, but thankfully it left as fast as it had come.

Fallon watched him closely rolling her own eyes after he rolled his own. It was obvious she would never win best actress but it wasn't exactly something she was gunning for these days. When he shifted she did as well leaning her body away from his, turning slightly though on the couch and pulling her leg up and around. With a slow move of her hand she smoothed out her skirt to its proper place once more.

Nodding she tapped her fingers against her leg as she listed to him, "well that sounds fun, better than the way I spent the remainder of my summer anyway." At the mention of a puppy she thought back trying to remember if he did or not. "Um you might have at your birthday party but I'm not sure to be honest." She looked concerned when he coughed again wondering if he were truly getting better.

As she pulled away from him, Jay frowned a bit but didn't say anything. Her scent was still stuck in his nose and brain, and eventhough he vas trying to ignore it, it was driving him crazy, completely crazy. He didn't imagine he would have missed her so much, but well, trying to ignore his feelings was the best, after all, even they had had bad moments, they were friends, so Jay thought he needed to start acting like a friend....but it was so difficult.

He shrugged also thinking if he told her about his dog at his party, but he wasn't sure either.
"Well it's cute and lovely, he's a Rottweiler and he's name is Danko" he said with a small shrug and a smile, then remembering something as a playfull smirk appeared in his face "By the way, I don't know if you have been informed, but appearently I am the new head boy" he said with a wink.

Fallon could tell that Jay was still attracted to her, it was rolling off of him in waves and as hard as she was trying to ignore it she wanted to be closer to him. So turning around completely on the couch to face him she leaned back against the arm and then crossed her legs in front of her indian style and smoothed her skirt back out.

"Well he sounds adorable, my sister and I were never allowed to have pets growing up," as soon as the sentence left her lips she couldn't control the dark look that came over her face but it was gone as quickly as it came. With a nod she glanced back up. "I did hear actually, I received an owl when they decided, Congratulations. I'm sure it will be a pleasure working side by side with you this year."

Jay watched Fallon moving again and he couldn't help moving his gaze to her legs and he bit his lip slightly as some words ran through his mind 'and here is where I want you....'. He needed to shake his head to leave those thoughts aside as he glanced back up to her eyes in the right moment to see something different on her look, but it dissapeared. He decided to ignore it and smiled softly at her last words.

"Yeah, I will need you to keep me under control, you know I'm used to be a rulebreaker, troublemaker and so on" he stated with a soft chuckle.

His eyes were on her once more and as much as she loved it she couldn't help but wonder what could possibly be going through his mind. Fallon had thought they made good progress on the friend level but after that night in the park and her disappearance more than likely had them going backwards. But it was for his own good that she stayed away and why she should probably stay away now.

Tapping her fingers across the back of the couch she finally look back to him a moment or two after he spoke last the many versions of what she wanted to say turning over in her head. With a long breath drawn it was then that she spoke a smile crossing back over her face. "I am sure that I can persuade you to be good, even if I have to use unsavory means." She would let him draw from that what he wished but she knew that with a word it was all it would take to keep him in line. "After all you wouldn't want to get me in trouble as well would you?"

As he saw her smile, he smiled too. It was the first time she really smiled since he had arrived and he couldn't deny that he still loved how beautiful her smile was. But his smile turned into a smirk as she spoke and finally a playfull look appeared in his eyes at her las question.

"Depends on the kind of 'trouble' we are talking about" he said with a wink taking his whole life to hold back the blush that threatened to appear over his cheeks for what he had just said. Yeah, definitely after his dream he was not able to look at her again as only his friend as he had been trying. He just had read that dreams shew what the mind really wanted...so he guessed it was right, he couldn't deny that he wanted her as much as he still loved her.

The voice in her head was screaming at her to stop what she was doing, that it was wrong to be flirting right back with Jay but the devil inside told her it didn't matter. So even though on the outside she was attempting to smile the war inside of her heart was beginning to riot. When Jay smirked she fought back the one of her own that was threatening to break out.

Shaking her head with a soft laugh she rolled her eyes. "Tsk tsk the new head boy seeking to purposely get the head girl in trouble. And here I thought the goal was to keep me -out- of trouble." Leaning over she patted his leg before settling back onto the couch. It was easier to keep her head if she didn't get too close to him.

Jay couldn't help the laughter that came out his throat at her words.
"No, girl, don't get wrong, the goal was keeping me under control, not you out of trouble" he said chuckling and winked at her playfully.

Jay's mind had run out of topics to talk about as he only was able to look at her and try to keep his hormones quiet. "I missed you..." he muttered softly and glanced down to the floor ruffling his own hair. Oh god, he needed a haircut.

The sound of laughter filled the room both from Jay and then from her. "I can keep you under control with my little finger but I'm never in trouble so I can focus all my energy on keeping you in line. Should be an easy enough task don't you think." Smiling she tapped her fingers against her leg as she watched him for another moment.

It was when he voice lowered though that her smile cracked slightly. Damn, this was the part that she was trying to avoid. "Well you know I missed you too." She had missed everyone but there were some secrets she just couldn't share with anyone. Leaning over she reached up and smoothed down a bit of hair he had caused to stick straight up. She had to admit he looked good when he was a bit shaggy.

A shiver ran down his spine as he felt her hand through his hair, and he glanced back up at her with a soft smile dacing on his lips.
"I need a haircut, I've been too lazy to take care of myself" he said half jokingly half seriously and chuckled. He liked his hair more a bit shorter and well styled, but he had to addmit that the lion look he had at that moment made him feel good also.

Jay wanted to ask again why had she been so absent since he had found her at tha park, but he didn't want to annoy her so he just let himself get lost in her gaze.

Fallon stroked her fingers across his head for a moment longer before retracting her hand and dropping it into her lap. Being so close to him made her mind wander but she knew that she had to control herself. Their friendship hung in the balance if she couldn't do something to easy.

"Well I could always trim it for you but I don't know how good the end result would be." Settling back against the couch she pulled over a pillow and propped it behind her head so she could relax. Surprisingly enough she was a bit tired and she wondered what he would do if she curled up against him and took a nap. She really didn't care though so she turned around and laid her head against his lap. Closing her eyes for a moment she sighed deeply not wanting him to think that she was falling asleep on him but she just couldn't help it.

Jay chuckled at her words.
"I'm sure you'd do a great job with my hair" he said and then just watched at her getting comfortable. Suddenly he felt her body against his own and he held his breath a bit nervously. When she sighed he did too, letting all the air he had been holding out and finally let himself relax, running unconsciously his fingers through her hair.
"Are you tired, sweetheart?" he muttered softly.

Nodding she rolled her eyes, "You say that now but you didn't see the hair cut I have my sister when she was three. Granted I didn't know any better but I'm sure it would be much better now." Smiling she reached up and touched his hair again. It didn't look that bad honestly but she was sure that he liked it shorter.

Shaking her head with her eyes closed still, she murmured a "no." Reaching down she straightening out her skirt aware that it was hitched up on her thigh. "I'm sorry Jay I don't know what come over me." she whispered still about half asleep.
