Demetrius's Office

Demetrius sat with his feet propped up on his brand new mahogany desk idily flipping through one of his books. Today was his first day working for the Ministry of Magic, and there wasn't much for him to do. He supposed at some point he'd go introduce himself formally to the Minister and see if there was anything for him to do. Right about now he was content to just chill in his new office.

His eyes fell on the picture on his desk of him and Ian on his desk from a couple years ago. They'd just taken a swim in the river and had huge grins on their faces. Ian's hair had still been blonde so the two of them could've passed as brothers. Demetrius smiled softly at the photo, "I'm doing this for you runt."

His mind wandered again to Aubrey as it had been prone to do recently. He'd had feelings for the woman since their time at Hogwarts together, but had never told he. He figured he'd take the plunge at let her know while working at the school. Unfortunately he didn't have the time before he found out he got the Ministry Job and had to leave. Before he took of though he'd left a note at her office, maybe she'd use it to track him here.

Aubrey received a mysterious Owl and knew immediately that it was Demetrius. First of all she could recognize his handwriting and he was the only one who worked close enough with her to develop a crush. Perhaps it wasn't a crush, maybe lust. Whatever it was she knew the poem was linked to Demetrius. Ryan Porter was always a man who could have a thing for her but he was her best friend and she knew his writing style. There was no way it was anyone else.

After asking someone to cover to her at the school, Aubrey went into her private quarters to freshen up. She changed her dress and fixed her hair. The minute she was done, she used the Floo Network to get to the Ministry. Once she arrived, she asked where she might be able to find Demetrius. The Head Receptionist gave her a map to his office. Once she arrived, she noticed the door was open slightly.

Although it was terribly rude to enter someone's room without asking, Aubrey decided to walk in anyway. She pushed the door open slowly and walked in. She hoped her heels weren't too loud. Sometimes when she tried to be quiet, her shoes gave her away. Aubrey stood in front of Demetrius' desk and smiled down at him. "Hello Demetrius, I got your Owl." She couldn't believe that's all she said but it would have to do.

The blonde flushed heavily at Aubrey's direct approach to the situation and struggled to straighten himself up. He almost fell out of his chair trying to sit up properly. "Y-you did," he gulped and ran his fingers through his hair not really sure what else to say after that. He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.

"I meant...I wanted to tell you years ago," He managed to stutter out. "You probably don't remember the dorky underclassman I used to be....but uhm...yeah." He could feel the red in his cheeks spreading further and further.

Aubrey still smiling down at him. She raised her eyebrow at his posture. She was always so proper and poised. When she ever saw him looking less than what she was normal it surprised her. "Yes, I got it and I read it a couple of times to make sure it was from you. I wouldn't want to come down here to find out it wasn't you, now would I?"

She shifted over to the seat in front of her and sat down. "Honestly, I don't remember much. But you have to remember, you are older than me. It's only about a month but even that one month counts. I remember seeing you around but nothing else. You really shouldn't feel embarrassed. We all feel this way eventually." She smiled at him reassuringly hoping it would be enough.

"I was always too shy to talk to you," he admitted getting redder in the face, "I always figured a girl like you would never go for a dork like me." Demetrius ran his hands through his hair and looked up into Aubrey's eyes. "You're still the most beautiful girl I know Brey." He mumbled out awkwardly feeling like a fourteen year old all over again.

He took a few deep breaths before gathering up the courage to finally ask, "I'd...totally understand if you said no, but uhm I was wondering if you'd like to go out on a date or something sometime?"

"No need to be shy. I wasn't aware I was all that intimidating" Aubrey let out a slight giggle not noticing his face becoming red. "The teenage me wouldn't. I wanted the muscular sexy rough and tumble kind of guys if you know what I mean." She realized how bad what she had just said sounded and it wasn't meant to be directed that way but she couldn't take it back.

"Now that I'm a little older I ignore exterior appearance to a certain extent. I don't want someone totally hideous but I'll go for someone a little less than what I used to go for. Once in my life I was shallow, I'm sure you remember those days." Aubrey smiled at him and readjusted her hair.

When he mentioned the date, she was taken aback. That topic certainly came out of left field. She sat silently for a few moments letting it all soak in before speaking to him. When her thoughts were finally straight again she smiled at him thoughtfully. "You know Demetrius you try to predict my moves, but you really can't. Of course I'll go out with you on a date."

He wasn't sure if he should take what Aubrey was saying as an insult or a compliment, either way he couldn't help but agreeing with her. "Yeah...I remember some of the morons you dated. Pretty to look at, but the personality of a burlap sack." He frowned a little bit at the memory of seeing Aubrey on the arms of those knuckleheads.

The shock on his face grew slowly into a bright grin, "Seriously? You'll go out with me? That's awesome!" He had no idea what kind of date he'd take Aubrey on, but he wanted it to be romantic and special.

"They were want I wanted at the time well, what I thought I wanted I guess. If they would've been what I wanted, then I would have been married by now." One of Aubrey's goals was to be married by twenty-two but that clearly didn't happen. She was single at twenty-two. "Who I was doesn't exist anymore. Once I hit twenty my outlook on everything changed."

When she saw the excitement he possessed she grinned at him. "Yes, I want to go out with you. I wouldn't have come here if I wasn't interested. I could have easily ignored your Owl but I chose not to. That by itself should have been a sign." She wondered what he would do for their date and where he would take it. Whatever it was she was sure it was going to be wonderful.
