Within the office of Jesse Greene

Jessie was still quite surprised that he got the job at the ministry. He applied on a lark not thinking he would really get hired and when he received the owl in the morning he thought it was one of his mates playing a cruel joke. But no it seemed as if the ministry really did have a place for him to work.

So he arrived that morning and started to set up his office and fill out all sorts of boring forms. That was one thing that he could have lived without doing.

For the last three hours Demetrius had been in his office going over paperwork, and to be honest he needed a break. Which was ridiculous considering he'd just gotten back from vacation, but things hadn't been going to well for him since then. Try as he might to hide it Dem was in a pretty awful mood. He covered it up with a smile but he was bummed about how things had turned out with Aubrey.

To get his mind off both the paperwork he fully intended to put off and the girl that broke his heart he decided to go and introduce himself to the newest member of his department. He made his way through the second floor corridors before knocking on the door he'd been looking for.

He had no intention of staying overly long, just pop in, introduce himself, see if the guy was adjusting well or if he needed anything. Then he'd be on his merry way looking for another distraction to hold him over tol clock out time.

Running his hand over his head he began to dig into a stack of papers on his desk about some dragon transport that someone had tried to do illegally, it was going to prove to be a stressful morning he just had that feeling. It was making him look forward to an evening at home with a beer and some tv.

Hearing a knock at the door as he was barely into the first paper he raised a brow, he had no idea who could be looking for him. But there was no sense in turning whoever it was, "Come in" he called before looking back down to the stack to try to figure out exactly why the people had been trying to move some dragons through the country.

Dem opened up the door and strolled into the office. He noticed that the guy was already hard at work going over reports. He smiled to himself knowing that he'd make a good employee. ""G'day, I see you already hard at work. Figured I'd make this short then. I'm Demetrius Schmander, Head of the Department. Pleasure to have you on board Mister...." He trailed off not knowing the guy's name just yet.

Finally he reached the end of the paragraph he was reading and looked up towards the man standing in his doorway. He immediately smiled as the man was rather cute. "Yes going over some papers about a fellow trying to move some dragons through the country. Tricky stuff it seems."

Motioning towards the only other chair in the office he smiled again, "Its Jesse, Jesse Greene and the pleasure is all mine Mr. Schmander. And its no trouble at all, this stuff is giving me a bit of a headache already as it seems."

When the guy looked up Demetrius was taken aback by how good looking he was, he tried pushing that thought out of his mind quickly. "Ah yeah, if I remember correctly the dragons were being sold as personal "guard dogs" at private estates. It's nice to see someone taking work so seriously, you just got here and you're already making yourself more useful than some people around here."

"And please Mr. Schmander is my grandfather. Call me Dem pleases Jesse," he offered a bashful smile as he took the seat offered to him. "Yeah the paper work is a major hassle, I hate it myself actually. I'm kind of procrastinating a stack of my own currently."

Jesse leaned back in his chair and rested his arms against the sides as he studied Demetrius for a moment more, his smile was rather cute. It had been a long time since he had had anyone catch his eye but Dem did that within a matter of seconds. "Yes, whoever thought they could get away with this obviously didn't know who they were dealing with. Its going to be a bigger hassle to get them back out of the country but we'll get it solved."

Grinning again he nodded, "I will remember that Dem," he said before pausing and looking towards the rather large stack of papers on his desk, "I usually don't jump right in but I figured being the new guy and all it wouldn't be too productive to slack off on the first day."

"Obviously not," Dem replied back with a smile as he looked around and observed the office. Not that there was much to look at right now. Dem knew though that if he didn't keep his mind occupied he'd wind up gawking at the hot guy and that just wasn't professional. "I'll actually prefer handling the over grown reptiles instead of hunting them down. I'm more of a...hands on kind of guy."

Jesse knew there wasn't much to his office yet, other than a few paintings of the countryside he wish he was currently in and a bookcase with an odd book or two. Leaning forward against his desk he shifted his position as he nodded again, "I have to admit for a first task handling this one isn't that bad, not really what I expected though."

When Dem started talking about being more hands on he instantly smiled and nodded again, "Exactly, I much rather be actually working in the field than stuffed in some office. I know its needed but...yeah hands on is my preferred approach." Groaning internally he couldn't help but realize how bad that sounded.

"True it could be worse," Dem chuckled a bit and ran his hands through his hair, "though to be honest I just started here a bit ago myself. I've yet to deal with anything much worse than mischievous goblins."

His mind went right into the gutter at what Jesse said but he managed to keep his composure. "Well if you don't mind me asking what brought you to the department? I know that most people have personal reasons. If you tell me your I'll tell you mine."

Trying to keep a professional look on his face he nodded, "you know those goblins are tricky creatures to deal with but I'm sure you have a handle on the situation." Continuing to lean against the table he watched Dem with interest before he decided to tell him about why he had seeked out the job.

"Well truth be told I was sick of sitting around my house and doing nothing I figured it was time to get out in the world and make a name for myself. I've always had a love for animals and I figured that this was as good a place as any to get started. So what about you, how did you get into this line of work."

"Well to be honest it's because of my cousin," Dem answered, "he's a...well he's a werewolf you see. I noticed he got a lot of flack and I noticed how prejudice people were towards him about it." He scratched the back of his neck and smiled, "So what started off as me just wanting to help my cousin turned out to a career."

Jesse listened with interest as Dem spoke about his cousin. He had never come across werewolves in his previous experience but he knew that they deserved respect just like anyone else. That was one of the things he was hoping to help was change some of the laws that were currently in place. "That sounds perfectly respectable. At least he has someone looking out for him, alot out there don't have someone."

"To make matters even worse for him he's a descendant of Fenrir Greyback," he wouldn't normally open up to someone about this, but for some odd reason he trusted Jesse. "I remember his first time he opened up a DADA book. When he saw that werewolves were classified as dark creatures he almost cried. That moment made me decide that I wanted to do this for a living."

Jesse was surprised to hear such a thing but anything in this crazy world was possible, "I can't imagine living with the infliction but hopefully we can work to change some of the perceptions that people have about werewolves, I mean look at Lupin. He did good for the world and lost his life fighting for what he believed in." Shaking his head he leaned back in his chair, people needed to wake up and start taking a look at the rest of the population.

"My point exactly!" Dem exclaimed a bit more enthusiasm then he'd intended to. He couldn't help it though he always got a little worked up over this. Realizing he'd gotten overly excited his ears turned a bit red and he scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment. "Yeah...sorry didn't mean to get so worked up. But it's good to know that there's someone around here that agrees with me."

Shaking his head he smiled, "no no, no need to apologize like I said its good to have a passion for something. After all if everyone in the world sat by idly we would never accomplish anything. The world needs people like you to help make a change or else well...we've seen what has happened so far." Jesse's main goal in life was to make a change in the world and he planned on starting out small and working his way up from there.
