CoMC Lesson 1

Isabella walked towards the Hut near the Forbidden Forest quickly. She wasn't late, of course, she was a Ravenclaw. They very rarely were. She straightened her sweater and strode towards the teacher. "Good morning," She greeted, "I'm Isabella Taylor." She walked farther away, to the place the students would probably be gathering.

Casey walked down the yard to Care of Magical Creatures. She was looking forward to this class. As she got there she saw Isabella. Walking over to the teacher she smiled. "Hi, I'm Casey Weasley." she said. Then she walked over to isabella. "Hey Isa," she said. She looked around. She could hear things moving but couldn't see them. Weird. Casey ran her hand through her hair. Figuring it would probably annoy her she put it up into a ponytail as she waited for the other students. Casey was nervous about this year. It was her O.W.L year. And if she wanted to be an Aurour or something like that, she had to do well in all her classes.

Indiana was feeling calm as he headed down to the lesson. As he drew near, the youth could sense that the professor and the other students weren't the only living entities before looking around. His eyes widened as he caught sight of the thestrals at the edge of the forest. Having read up about the creatures, his thoughts migrated to the time when his grandfather passed away several years ago.

Remaining calm, Indiana merely stood near a fence, waiting for class to start.

As Isabella waited for class to start, she hummed to herself. Then, Casey, a Hufflepuff girl she had met in Hogsmeade showed up. "Hey Isa," She said. Isabella smiled. "Hey Case. Cool, i know someone here!" A boy in her House, a year older than her, and a girl Isabellarealized was several years older than her showed up. Isabella couldn't recognize her house, though. she wasn't wearing any sort of uniform. "Hello there," She said to the girl. "Why aren't you wearing the uniform?"

Jay walked by the courtyard to his CoMC class happily. He hadn't had breakfast, but wasn't hungry either so quicly he arrived there and smiled at professor McNeely.

"Good morning, professor" he greeted and stood there waiting for the class to start.

Pam walked to class grinning. She loved CoMC and couldn't wait to see what they would be learning about next.

"Hello Professor," she said as she walked down to Hagrid's Hut.

Patrick trailed after his twin, ready for whatever class brought. If it got him out of the castle, he was fine with it.

"Hello Professor," he nodded and gave a smile to his classmates.

Alliana made her way down toward where her CoMC class was being held, rather grateful that the weather had turned out to be at least semi-warm. She wasn't thrilled about classes beginning again, but she was happy to see all her friends once more, and so she wasn't too bothered by it.

Running her thin fingers through her straightened hair, her blue eyes glanced through the faces of the people already there as she approached. She only recognized her boyfriend and his twin, as well as the boy Jayden that she'd met briefly before break.

Giving a pleasant smile and a nod toward the Professor, she headed over to stand next to Patrick, leaning in to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. She gave a small wave to Pamala before turning her attention toward the forest curiously, excited to start the lesson.

"Hey Case. Cool, i know someone here!" Isabella said. Casey looked around as more people arrived. Some were from her own house. Others were not. She looked around, waiting for class to begin. Casey had told herself that this year, she actually was gonna pay attention and try to do well on her O.W.Ls.

Audrey walked down the hill with Robert slowly and cautiously. The last time she rushed down it, she'd fallen.

"Hi," she smiled and nodded to her classmates. Robert also nodded.

Julie was running late and she didn't like it. Noticing that not the entire class had arrived yet, she forced herself to slow down as she went down the hill - she didn't want to somersault like her brother had once. That would probably damage her books. She smiled at everyone else.

Gwen came just intime to hear the question and raised her hand simply with a blank look on her face. "Sorry I´m late professor. I won´t let it happen again." she said in a monotone voice before gazing back at the thestrals. She loved the creatures but she always remembered why she could see them.
NOT improving her mood.

He haven't noticed that the Thestrals were so close to them untill he looked at there when the professor asked them to. He sighed a bit trying to keep his pains in him, as always, and also rised his hand.

Julie stared blankly at the empty area where the Thestrals were supposed to be. Thestrals... thestrals... oh! She kept her hand down and winced slightly when she saw a couple of people raising theirs.

Jaxon paused as he came up to the group, noticing not only Jay, but also the creatures at the edge of the forest he assumed they would be studying this lesson. Oh yes. He could see them clear as day. Thestrals. Mostly gentle creatures, but it was a mean punch to the face when you realized why it was you could see them in the first place. Or remembered why.

Jaxon felt his blood run cold at the onslaught of memories he was hit with at that moment, but he pushed it aside like a champ and greeted his professor and classmates with his notorious crooked grin. "Afternoon professor. Sorry I'm late. Had to fight a dog for a tie. Hey everyone." Remembering what the professor had asked, he raised his own hand to indicate he too could see the Thestrals.

Patrick looked around. What were they supposed to be seeing? Pam looked confused as he was, which was saying something.

Isabella looked at the forest intently. There! She raised her hand, "Do you mean those scary black horse-like things with bony wings?" She asked. "If so, why can I see them?" The few people who had raised their hands looked grim, sad, maybe even reminiscent. "Why can I see those creatures?"

Casey didn't see the Threstals and was glad. Although she had always wondered what they looked like she was glad she didn't know. She leaned over to Isabella. "Only those who have witnessed death ca see them" she whispered to the younger girl. She felt bad for those who could see them and hoped she never would see then.

Julie raised her hand slowly. "From what I've read," she said cautiously, "They're carnivorous and pack animals with fixed migratory patterns. They aren't usually domesticated and they have a level... four danger rating, I think."

She paused. "In literature they are considered omens of death," she offered dryly, a small part of her head giggling at the morbid humour in the statement.

Alliana was thankful that when she turned her head toward the direction of the Thestrals, that she wasn't able to see them. She noted that a few other students around her raised their hands though, and she frowned, immediately feeling a bit sad for each of them. She allowed her gaze to travel toward Pat and his sister, but he noticed that both of them looked confused. She almost offered an explanation, but then the teacher began to speak and she turned her attention back ahead of her once more.

Listening to the other students answer, she paused before slipping her hand up into the air. There wasn't much else she could add, but she decided to try.. "Only experienced wizards should try to handle Thestrals because of their danger rating, and to those who have experiences with them, they seem loyal and will forcefully attack anyone or anything they see as a threat." She shrugged, figuring it was a better attempt then she'd thought.
