"My cousin started studying for his NEWTs his fourth year," Ian offered up as he started to yawn, "I'm prolly going to start studying over the Summer. Wanna be prepared and all that." He figured that when next year came around he'd be helpin his friends studying anyhow.

Ian nodded and smirked, "Good cuz I'm not cite, not even a little bit, not ever."

"I'm not implying anything Pat,' he answered back with a laugh, "just teasing you a bit is all. Besides I eat live chickens once a month...can't really talk about table manners now can I."

Patrick just looked at Ian. Then he raised an eyebrow.

"You my friend are insane. I think that's the only explanation for it." he said and pulled out a piece of parchment. He was somewhat bored and doodles were his friends. At least, not when he was doodling him falling off a broom!

"Me thinks the dude protests too much," he raised an eyebrow while crumpling up the parchment in his palm. He wrinkled his nose at the chicken thing though.

"Well no, I guess you can't," he said. "Poor chickens."

"I'm not insane, I just don't wanna be caught unawares," Ian said with a shrug, "Besides mt family will flip shit if I don't do excellent. Mediocre isn't an option for me." Especially now that he was living with his mum that values intelligence over everything.

Ian laughed a bit, "Quoting Shakespeare are you?" He grinned a little bit at Pat. "If I'm cute then so are you dude." Ian took out his wand and tapped it on the parchment ball twice and watched as it took shape into a paper crane. Took off and fluttered around for a bit before erupting into blue flames.

"If by poor chickens you mean delicious, then yes."

"That's what they all say," Patrick said. "But good grades are important," he conceded. "My dad really doesn't care about my grades; doesn't understand them."

"Best playwright I know," he said with a smirk. He raised an eyebrow. "Me? Unbelievably handsome yes? Cute? I don't know," he teased. Pat was relieved to see that crane go up in flames. So less likely for anyone to see it.

"Meh. I'm more of a steak person myself." he shrugged.

"My mum definetely does, my dad didn't so much as long as I was happy with my work," he shrugged, "won't fly with my mom though.

He rolled his eyes and snorted a bit, "Unbeliveably handsome? I dunno about all that Patty. I'll admit that you're pretty hot, but ya know that's as far as I'm willing to go."

The word steak made him want to drool a little bit, "I love steak, but I'm not big enough to take down a live cow on my own. The largest I've gotten was a deer."

Patrick chuckled at that, and began doodling once more on a spare piece of parchment. Merlin, it was like he wanted Ian to know about why he was afraid of flying as this one as well was of him flying off a broom. (he was very quick when it came to doodles)

"Venison meat? Never had it," Patrick said, trying to crumple this other one up as well. "It any good?"

Something told him that he wasn't as subtle as he was the last time about the doodle.

"It's pretty good, it's hard to explain though," Ian answered with a shrug as he craned his neck trying to see what Pat was doodling. "Besides I've only eaten it raw, I doubt you'd like that."

"What're you drawing over there Patty?"

Patrick couldn't help but make a face at the idea of raw deer meat.

"Ugh, I'll stick to cooked stuff," he said.

"Err, nothing much," he said when Ian asked what he was drawing. "Just doodles."

Ian laughed at the face Pat made and made a mental image of it. He loved telling people thigns like that to shock them and see how they reacted.

"Can I see?"

Patrick shrugged.

"Sure if you want to," he said though he wished he'd said no. The image of him falling off that broom still stuck to his retinas whenever he went near a broom, never mind the idea of flying.

Ian looked at the paper and tilted his head a little bit to the side as he eyed the doodle, "Hey Pat, is there any particular reason you're doodling yourself falling off a broom?"

Ah, so it was time.

"Cause that's what happened the first time I flew on a broom," he said trying not to be too embarrassed. "But you know, lightning never strikes twice."

Shrugging, he couldn't help the small amount of blood that rushed to his face.

Ian's face lit up in understanding and he nodded, "Oh, it makes sense now. Dude I totally understand why you're afraid of flying. Look if you want I'm here to help you get over it. But I'm not gonna push you okay?"

"Thanks man," Patrick said. He chuckled under his breath a little. "I don't know why I'm like this. It's been four years." he muttered softly trying to get his flush under control.

He and his friend were flying near the Whomping Willow when he felt his broom slip from under him.

"It was a bad experience it's understandable that you're traumatized," he shrugged and patted Pat's shoulder trying to comfort him. "Lemme let you in on a little secret. I'm absolutely petrified of anything remotely reptillian. Even tiny little salamanders make me shriek like a girl."

"Seriously?" Patrick asked, his lips twitching in an attempt not to smile. "Wait, I thought you didn't like cats? You seemed terrified when Two-Bit came near you on the train when we first met."

Stupid brooms. If he hadn't fallen off in second year, they wouldn't be having this conversation now would they?

"I dislike cats," Ian answered, "they can normally smell the wolf on me and tend to attack me so I sorta dislike them. But I'm scared of reptiles. To the point that I almost passed out in Transfiguration after the failing to completely change a rat into a snake."

"Rat snake?" Patrick raised an eyebrow. "I don't take Transfiguration but that just sounds creepy."

Seems like everyone has their little fears, a voice that sounded like his mother's said in his head. Ian doesn't let his get in the way of his school work. Why should you let yours get in the way of living your life?

His fear was different...or was it?

"It was possibly the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in my life." Ian admitted, "but Professor Fey calmed me down and let me know everything was alright. I'm working on getting over my fear. It's not easy by any means, but...it's something I wanna do. When you're ready to get over your fear of flying you will, and I'll be there to help you."

Smiling at Ian, Patrick nodded. "Thanks mate. I mean that."

Would he ever be ready to get over that fear? If he wanted to go near a broom without having a minor panic attack then yes.

"It's alright Pat," Ian said with a huge grin on his face, "there's no need to thank me. It's what best mates are for right." He reached up and playfully tousled Pat's hair. He decided to tease his friend a little bit.

"Pat dude, how do you get your hair so soft and fluffy~" He asked in a bit of an obnoxious voice.

"Oi!" Patrick chuckled as Ian tousled his hair.

"It's a gift," he said with a smirk at Ian's question. "No seriously dude. I use this stuff called shampoo. It's a miracle, that stuff is."

"Wait, fluffy?" he raised an eyebrow at that last adjective. "I'll give you soft but fluffy?"

"Oh shampoo, what's that?" Ian asked tilting his head to the side pretending to be confused. "Well whatever it is it smells goooood~ Can you eat it?"

Accidentally at the mention of his food his stomach let out a growl. He hadn't realized how hungry he was, but considering that he hadn't been eating alot lately it wasn't much of a surprise. "Please ignore the growling noise coming from my gut, it's your imagination."

"It's this stuff you put in your hair when you take a shower. You then wash it out and your hair gets cleaned," Patrick chuckled. "No you can't eat it."

Upon hearing a growl coming from Ian's gut, Patrick raised an eyebrow.

"That's not my imagination." he said. "Usually my imagination comes with Two-Bit talking or the teachers deciding to not have class and just let us goof off. A rumble that loud was not my imagination. Dude you are hungry."

His stomach growled as well, though not as loud as Ian's had.

"See? Normal dude reaction to talking about food," he teased and lightly punched Ian in the shoulder.

"Well how do you know Two-Bit's not actually talking," Ian asked with a raised eyebrow while reaching down into his backpack and pulling out a cookie. Which he snapped in half and offered piece of to Pat. "Well it's not actually food, but it'll due until I'm done studying and can go get real food."

He grabbed a quill out of his bag too and started making notes in the book he was reading. "Hey Patty, have you put much thought into what you wanna do after you graduate?"
